Car Party on, ppl! Automotive Pop Culture has never been stronger... and here at the FTG, our job is to feed the BEAST! So today, it's an all-new DUKE OF SPEED MASHUP ART!! Imagine the Duke Boys getting a hold of Speed Racer's MACH 5? Or maybe Speed got inspired by the Dukes runnin' from the COPS? Either way... Coolness has a Cometh INTO THE GARAGE! But, there's more...
DID YOU KNOW?? The Mach 5 was inspired by the Ferrari 250 TestaRossa, the Ford GT40, and the Aston Martin from James Bond. The car's large red M on the hood is a tribute to Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune. In the original Japanese version, Speed Racer's name is Go Mifune, after the actor. Go is a Japanese homophone for the number 5, which is also the number on his race car... and the yellow letter G on Speed Racer's shirt represents the number 5!
In today's blast, Fireball welcomes Acting Legend DICK VAN DYKE at a Gallery Show in Malibu, past buddy TONY DOW snapped with some Ice Cream in Hollywood and Fireball spots Agent Coleson from MARVEL... Actor CLARK GREGG! Plus, a Vintage snap of WILLIAM SHATNER atop Gene Winfield's REACTOR! This photo actually made Gene's career!
Still more in the Garage with awesome DUKE VADER MASTERPRINT ART, Fireball does the Cadillac Thang and a sick pickup from Steven Garcia @SteelRollin53 from HOT WHEELS LEGENDS! And have you seen this week's episode of CAR SHOW SAFARI? It's here!
Now get out there and GET SHIT DONE!
