DID YOU KNOW?? "Fantastic Voyage," the 1966 science fiction film, is known for its groundbreaking visual effects and its exploration of the human body. The movie featured a full-size 42-foot long Proteus submarine set with removable sections to allow for filming the interior. A smaller, five-foot miniature was also used for filming scenes within the human body. The movie spent $3 million on sets alone! During filming, one of the miniaturized Proteus models was carried off by a crow after being left by an open window!! Wait... WHAT??
And meanwhile, ON PLANET FIREBALL... The Ball grew up next to MARINELAND WATER PARK in Palos Verdes, now the site of the Terranea Resort!
